Stop the Bleed Program

In 2015, the service in partnership with all county schools and Prevea Health placed 500 bleeding control kits in all county schools. Each kit contains basic bandaging, as well as a lifesaving tourniquet and pressure bandage. Initial training on how to use the supplies within the kits was provided to teachers and staff at each school, and continued training occurs each year during teacher in-service at the beginning of each school year.

In the future, Emergency Services hopes to extend bleeding control training to local businesses, as well as the general public.
